A Better Understanding

On February 21, Southeast Ministry, Bread for the City, Academy of Hope, Miriam’s Kitchen, People for Fairness Coalition, So Others Might Eat, Sasha Bruce and Fair Budget Coalition partnered up for a budget advocacy training.

Several of our adult learners attended the training, including Mr. Will Washington, who enjoyed his experience at the event. “It gave me clarity on how the (city’s) money is spent. It gave me a better understanding of what the (city’s) money is.” Mr. Washington felt as though the training was very productive and encourages more people to participate in similar types of events, “if you’re a tax paying citizen in DC, you have a voice. You should make your voice heard, no matter if you have a $100,000 paying job or a $19,000 a year paying job, you have a voice.”
